4 Simple Things I Do Every Day to Stay Connected to My Witchcraft Practice

Your witchcraft practice doesn’t have to take over your life to be part of it. I don’t have an elaborate daily ritual. I’m a mom, I run a business, and most days there are approximately seventeen things competing for my attention. But there are a few tiny things I come back to almost every day that help me stay connected to my craft. None of them take more than a few minutes.

1. I stir intention into my coffee or tea.

I’m making it anyway, so this requires exactly zero additional time.

As I stir, I think about what I want to bring into my day. Maybe I need patience. Focus. Confidence. Calm. Sometimes it’s as simple as please let me get my shit done today. It doesn’t need to be profound to be intentional.

2. I light a candle and incense.

Lighting a candle and incense has become a small signal that I’m beginning my day with intention.

It takes seconds, but the flame, scent, and little pause help me shift into a different headspace.

3. I greet the spirits at my altar.

When I light the candle on my altar, I take a moment to greet the spirits I work with.

There isn’t an elaborate script or lengthy ritual attached to it. It’s simply acknowledgment—a tiny moment of connection woven into something I’m already doing.

4. I pull one tarot card and one rune.

Not a full reading or a complicated spread. Just one card and one rune. (I like Moonly and Golden Thread tarot for apps if I don't have time to do a physical pull with my cards.) I notice what comes up, think about how the two might relate to each other or to the day ahead, and move on with my morning. Some days I sit with them longer, some days I don’t. Both count.

Your daily practice can look completely different.

These aren’t four things I think every witch should do. They’re four things that work for me.

Maybe your daily magick happens when you open the curtains in the morning. Or put on your jewelry, water your plants, take a shower or a bath, or walk your dog. The goal isn’t to squeeze more rituals into an already-full day. It’s to look at the life you’re already living and ask: Where could a little intention fit naturally?

Your practice doesn’t need to take over your life to be part of it.

Start where you are. Use what you have. Make your practice yours.
